At Broadcast Services International (BSI), we believe in working toward a greener planet and our approach is focused on meaningful action and continuous improvement. Our sustainability initiatives focus on practical, real-world solutions that deliver tangible environmental benefits while continuing to provide meaningful value to our clients.
We take a holistic approach to our carbon strategy, considering every facet of our business and the entire production supply chain. This includes actively engaging with our clients, vendors, and partners to better understand, manage, and reduce emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3.
Looking ahead, we remain committed to continually improving our environmental performance and reducing our carbon footprint. We look for opportunities to operate more efficiently, reduce waste, make smarter use of resources, and work collaboratively with our partners to minimize the environmental impact of our productions. Our long-term ambition is clear: to move BSI and the productions we support toward a net-zero future while delivering practical solutions that work in the real world.
Our Climate Approach
Reducing Carbon at Work
Ex. We use energy-efficient CAT6-powered lighting where possible to help reduce electricity consumption.
Reducing Carbon Transportation
Ex. Where possible, we consolidate shipments and assess modes of transportation to identify more efficient, lower-carbon options.
Encouraging Remote Production
Ex. Having employees work hybrid, reducing unnecessary travel.
Discouraging Single Use Plastics
Ex. Encouraging employees to use at work cups or reusable water bottles instead of single use plastics.
Reducing Onsite Carbon Transportation
Ex. Encouraging electric vehicles when applicable.
About our Data
When going through our data we will be going through each three of our scope’s.
Scope 1 relates to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions that were generated directly by our organization and our activities.
Scope 2 is indirect emissions that are related to our organization’s consumption of electricity, heat or steam.
Finally, scope 3 is other indirect emissions, which are related to our organization’s upstream and downstream operations and activities.
These emissions are computed by looking at activity metrics and emissions factors to find the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The scope chart to the right looks at BSI’s general overview of each three scope’s. All three scopes looks at the absolute and employee CO2 emissions. For charts below we will be showing the breakdown of each scope and the general overview of all three scopes.

Scope 1
For scope 1 for each category it’s looking at BSI consumption of natural gas, fuel, heating and propane. Whether it be from planes, car commute or air conditioning from our head office.
Scope 2
For scope 2 it looks at the electricity BSI uses throughout the year, from the lights at the head office to our heat network.
Scope 3
With scope 3 it looks at our equipment, whether it be audiovisual, office IT or machines. It also looks at business travel, working space rental, furniture and food.
General overview
The general overview looks at each of these categories altogether. Our highest category, assets, looks at all our equipment. Whether it be for during broadcasts or for our employees while working at our head office.
Message from our President
At BSI, we believe that reducing our environmental impact is a shared responsibility—one that extends beyond our own operations to the vendors we work with and the clients we serve.
Our approach begins with understanding our greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint across Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. Through Greenly, we measure and monitor emissions from our direct operations and purchased energy, as well as the broader impact associated with our supply chain and business activities. Our participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) reinforces our commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Measurement, however, is only the beginning. Internally, we continue to look for opportunities to use energy and resources more efficiently, reduce waste, and make responsible operational decisions. We work with our vendors to better understand the environmental impact of the products and services we purchase and to identify opportunities to reduce emissions throughout our supply chain. At the same time, we work with our clients to provide greater transparency and explore more efficient and sustainable solutions together.
We recognize that meaningful progress cannot be achieved by any one organization alone. It requires collaboration across the entire value chain and a continued willingness to evaluate how we operate, what we purchase, and how we serve our clients.
Our commitment is to measure accurately, act responsibly, collaborate openly, and continuously improve. By working together with our employees, vendors, and clients, we can make meaningful progress toward reducing our collective carbon footprint and building a more sustainable future.

Progress
At BSI, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by considering lower-carbon solutions across our operations.
In 2024, we began working with Greenly to better understand our greenhouse gas emissions and identify areas where we could make the greatest impact. In 2025, we built on this foundation by refining our processes and strategies, improving how we evaluate our emissions and incorporating carbon-conscious decisions into our day-to-day operations.
Looking ahead, we will continue developing our action plans, training our teams to identify lower-carbon solutions, and collaborating with our vendors and clients. From equipment shipping and business travel to our internal operations, we are working to make sustainability an increasingly important part of how BSI does business.
Trees4Travel
Since May of 2024 BSI has been using Trees4Travel, who fights carbon impact by planting trees. From working with their projects, we have helped plant over 2,000 trees and reduced over 330,00 kg CO2. Currently BSI has helped in Jodhipur (Nepal Reforestation), Mozambique, Marereni & Kurawam, Kenya, and Madagascar.
